New SUPER ARROW IMAGE GAUGE Object (COMPASS)
« on: June 05, 2017, 08:42:32 PM »
Hi,

today I want to give you some hints about the new Super Arrow Image Gauge. With this object you do almost any analog car dial. ;)

How to use it:
- prepare a cool dial image to be under your arrow (could be a photo of any car dial for rpm, speed, fuel, temp, etc.). This image should not exceed the 540 x 540 pixel and obviously your dial image must be centered, see the Ring Texture Pack or the compass image in attachment to learn how to make your dial

- prepare your arrow image, to make your arrow simply download and open an arrow image with Photoshop from the Arrow Texture Pack and use it as a template for your own arrow creation, same as for dial image must not exceed 540 x 540 pixel

Now you have finished your ARROW and DIAL image put them in the vdash_template/pictures/ directory

In our example we are creating a compass with the Wind Direction telemetry data from Assetto Corsa which give us the wind direction in degrees from 0 to 359° and of course the dial and arrow image are in attachment ready to be downloaded, ;)

so just extract the zip and put both images into the vdash_template/pictures/ directory

Now you have all elements ready we can create the compass dial... see the next post

- Okay start by using the menu Get Image...
to put the compass image into the page, use a fresh page for this tuto

- then use the image properties to rotate the compass if you want

- now use the Dial menu and select the Super Arrow Image Gauge and choose the arrow_compass.png image

- zoom out the arrow to match the size of the compass image around 278 x 278 px and obviously center the arrow on the dial

IMPORTANT: for this step you must NOT BE ON TRACK so quit the Assetto Corsa session
- open the properties of the Super Arrow Image Gauge object and align the arrow to the "N" (Nord)
(DO NOT ADJUST THE START POSITION DURING THE SESSION, quit the session and then adjust the arrow to match the start)

- create a DATA OTHER object and choose "WIND DIRECTION" to get the value of the wind direction from Assetto Corsa

- check if
Select Field = Wind Direction
Max Value Field = NOT USED
Force Max Value =  360 (for the 360°)

- close properties and save the page

- now open a session in Assetto Corsa and simply adjust the slider STEP to match the wind direction values

that's it!

Cheers,
z
